Obama is the best campaigner I have ever seen. If the Republicans nominate Gingrich, it will be fun to watch him take apart such a baggage-laden, unstable miscreant. It will be a choice between the lesser of two demagogues.
The only looser of the next presidential election will be the 99%. If the Republicans win, it will be the fault of The Liberal Democrat’s failure to present any Progressive primary challenge to Obama, not the thousands of disgusted voters like me who will stay home.
With no positive expectations of the President, it is impossible to say his State of the Union speech was a colossal disappointment. It was exactly the perfect storm of inflated rhetoric, lies and clichés I would have expected from a failed executive. As an ex-Democrat/Obama supporter I have been warning people to attend, not to what he says, but what he does. The SOU address presents us with a case in point: Rhetoric Score B+ Performance Score D-.
Obama’s inspiring words about America belie his shabby domestic record on reigning in Wall Street and Corporate crime, establishing an effective environmental policy, and minimizing the toxic influence of the HMOs over the nation’s health care system—along with a seemingly endless list of other failures.
Of course no apology was made for a scandalous record of opacity and domestic repression that would make a Neocon drool. Listening to his inspiring words almost makes me want to forget the fact that he is just blowing campaign smoke up the voters’ asses. He IS an expert campaigner.
It is in the area of US foreign policy that Obama really hits his demagogic stride: Iran’s unestablished nukes, our successful beating of Iraq back into the stone age, continuing covert support for the brutal leadership suppressing the Arab spring, bragging about the international crime of the murder of Osama bin Laden and repeating the Big Lie that ObL was the primary author of 9/11.
The only thing more shocking than the presentation of these bald-faced lies and bully-brags is the fact that a majority of Americans don’t even understand the enormity of his lies and our foreign policy crimes.
We now have a choice of two hand baskets to Hell. The fast-tracked Republican one or the slightly slower, more comfortable Democrat one.
A vote for either one will get us to the same place.
